Membership Program

Our membership program is based on the calendar year of the U.S. Fencing Association, which extends from August 1st to July 31st. For the 2007-2008 year, we no longer recognize multiple categories of membership with varying fees. Instead, to keep things simple we are implementing one membership fee.

Our membership fee can be paid on a monthly or annual basis. Payment on an annual basis reflects a savings of 10 percent. We also offer a family discount. Additional members from the same family will receive a monthly discount of $10 or an annual discount of 10 percent (beyond that shown above). Annual and family discounts can be combined.

Our general membership allows you unlimited access to our facility, use of our own equipment until you decide to get your own, and limited access to the coach.

Member's Personal Program: We would like each member to consult with Coach Hassan to set individual goals and establish a personal level of commitment for the current fencing year. Whether you simply want to have fun or you aspire to the Olympics, Coach Hassan would like to help you decide what level of fencing you want to pursue: RECREATIONAL, COMPETITIVE, or ELITE.

To assist you in attaining your goals, Coach Hassan can develop a year-long program for you. Competitive and Elite fencers can expect this program to include training, lessons, camps, and tournaments.

Lessons: Lessons are private one-on-one sessions between the coach and fencer. They last for 20 minutes, and cost $25 each. Lessons can be purchased in a package of three for $75, and must be paid in advance. A lesson card will be given to you, which you must present at each lesson to be punched. Fencers must schedule private lessons ahead of time in Coach Hassan's lesson book.

Lesson Cancellation Policy : Cancellation or rescheduling of lessons must be made by the end of business day prior to the day of the lesson. If you miss a scheduled lesson you are subject to charge. In case of an emergency, the coach may waive the fee. Refunds will not be given.

Floor Fees : A Floor Fee will be charged to fencers who use our facility but are not members of Gateway Fencing Academy. This fee is $10 per day. You must provide your own equipment.

Purchasing Equipment: If you want to purchase your own equipment and need advice, please ask Coach Hassan. We can offer discounts to our members for equipment purchased from some vendors. You are also welcome to make purchases on your own.
