Make that Five National Medals!
Five of Gateway’s fencers have won National medals so far
in 2008: in March, Alec Slavin won a medal for finishing in the
top 8 at the Rosemont NAC in Division II Men’s Foil. Then
in April at the Portland NAC, Emerson Reed won a silver medal in
Y10 Men’s Sabre, followed by Mohamed Hassan, taking a medal
for finishing in the top 8 in Y10 Men’s Foil.
Our latest medalists are Kristen George and Peter Kalinowski,
who followed up with big wins at Summer Nationals in San Jose.
Kristen took an amazing 5th place in Division II Women's Foil,
winning her "C" rating, and Peter rounded out Summer
Nationals with a top 8 win in Division III Mens' Sabre.
Great job guys and congratulations to everyone who fenced so well
at Summer Nationals! |

Super Youth Circuit Winners!
The following GFA fencers have won medals and national points
at Super Youth tournaments in Houston and Louisville: Adam Bartling,
Alexandre Amice, Mohamed Hassan, Emerson Reed, Joe Davis and Tom
Davis.
Way to go fencers and congratulations to Coach Hossam on these
wonderful results! |
GFA and St. Louis chosen to host NAC!!
St. Louis has officially been chosen as the
host city for the North American Cup tournament (Junior, Cadet, Y14)
to be held in
November 2008!! GFA is excited to be hosting this large, national
event --- St. Louis is indeed being put on the map!! GFA and its
members are honored to partner with the St.
Louis Convention & Visitors
Commission and St. Louis
Sports Commission to develop a successful
bid to bring this event to our
city. |

This year GFA has
sixteen fencers heading to compete at Summer Nationals - good luck
to everyone and have a great time in San Jose!!!!
