Hassan
Hossam Hassan is an internationally recognized coach with
27 years of fencing experience. He has earned degrees from
the French Fencing Federation and the International Olympic
Committee, and has trained under some of the top coaches in
the world, including Master Michelle Perrin, the National
French Team coach, Master Octavian Zidaru of Romania, Master
Ioan Pop, the Technical Director of the International Fencing
Federation, former Egyptian National Team coach Istvan Marton
of Hungary, and the legendary Alexander Romankov of Russia.
As an athlete, he won the Egyptian National Championship twice,
once as a junior and again as a senior.
From 1986-1988, Coach Hassan was coach of the Egyptian Fencing
Club and from 1988-1990, Assistant National Foil Team coach
of the Egyptian Fencing Federation. From 1990-2000 he was
coach of the Alsogor Club as well as the King Faisal Air Base,
and in 1992 he was invited to train the Saudi National Team
at the Barcelona Olympics. Coach Hassan became coach of the
Algezira Club in Cairo in 2000, and in 2002 was named Head
Coach of the National Egyptian Team, where he trained many
internationally ranked athletes. In 2004 the men's foil team,
under the direction and instruction of Coach Hassan, qualified
for the Olympic Games in Athens.
Prior to coming to St. Louis, Coach Hassan was coach at Lotus
Fencing Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.
